Review: This is the second book I have read from this author, both with the travelling van theme. I was attracted to this book in particular as a lover of all things Christmas, but the heroine of the tale apparently takes her love of the season further than me! The lovely cover suggests a Christmas adventure and some escapism for the reader.
The central female character, Flora, is a great lover of all things Christmas, but is devastated to be sacked from her perfect job in a year-round, Christmas-themed shop. When her friend suggests that she could set up on her own in a mobile business, she doesn’t expect that Flora will take the idea quite as far as she does - to Lapland in fact. Flora travels north, buys a suitable campervan and joins other van lifers in a Christmas market. This is where she meets and, after an awkward start, falls for, Connor. Unfortunately, handsome Connor just can’t understand the appeal of Christmas, so Flora sets out to show him the joys of the most wonderful time of the year.
This is an entertaining, light-hearted read that is just oozing Christmas cheer and celebration. Flora is an amazing character, possibly the biggest lover of all things festive there ever was. How was she attracted to Connor, much more interested in saving the planet than joining in celebrations for something he hates? There are many humorous situations as Flora tries to involve Connor in typical Christmas activities and win his heart at the same time. This is definitely a book for lovers of Christmas and Hallmark movies.
