Top Ten Tuesday: Rewind Top Ten books I HAD to buy...but are stillsitting on my shelf unread

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists over there at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Ok so I JUST missed this post so I thought I would rewind to a fairly recent Top Ten Tuedsay topic and join in with the fun! I really am someone who is impulsive when it comes to buying books. Shoes and handbags I will leave in the shop, go back and visit them a couple of times or shop around for the best bargain. If I see a new book I want, however, I am much more likely to just snap it up then and there, it comes home with me that very same day! But then life gets in the way, or there are other books that I receive that seem to somehow end up in front of this book on the TBR pile, you know how it is when someone shoves a book in yor hands and says 'you MUST read this now!' So I could probably do a longer list than 10 here...

1. The Perks of being a Wallflower, Stephen Chbosky. I got this from Simon and Schuster, I really really want to read it. It has travelled in my suitcase at least 3 times, everyone says I should read it and yet it is still on my bookshelf.

2. Beautiful Disaster, Jamie McGuire. Another one that I got from Simon and Schuster that is still sitting there and another that everyone says I have to read-oh the shame!

3. The Shoemaker's Wife, Adriana Trigiani. I love this author and have all her other books. This one I think is still sitting there because its a hardback and so harder to carry in my handbag. I need a couple of days in the summer where this can sit by my deck chair/park bench somewhere and be fully enjoyed...

4. The Little Women Letters, Gabrielle Donnely. I love the concept of this book as Little Women is one of my favourite novels, and yet I haven't got round to reading it yet. Why? I don't know!

5. At Home, Bill Bryson. I was very excited when this book first came out and bought it on promotion because it was new. It is another MASSIVE book though and so I think that's what's putting me off reading it. Another one which has been with me in my suitcase on more than one occasion.

6. The One Before The One, Katy Regan. I was given this book by a friend and I honestly don't know why I haven't picked it up yet. Maybe I need to move it to a more prominent position on the bookshelf so I will notice it more. Having recently read Katy Regan's Latest novel and enjoyed it, i have a feeling this wont be on the shelf for very much longer!

7. See I said this would be easy... after the party, Lisa Jewell. In last weeks's Top Ten I mentioned living Ralph's party and so I was really keen to get this sequel to it and find out what had gone on in their lives. However this one has sat at the top of the bookshelf since them...it needs to be read!

8. Unsticky, Sarra Manning. This time last year I read both You Don't Have to Say you Love Me and Nine Uses for an Ex-Boyfriend and loved them both, so I bought Unsticky and it has remained on my self since then. The other day I bought Adorkable and so hopefully I will be settling down to a Sarra Manning double bill sometime soon.

9. Multiple novels by Paige Toon. Another author I think I'm going to sit down and binge on sometimes soon, when IS that time with the deck chair going to come??? Recommend all of these by friends and just have never got round to reading them.

10. I have to stop at 10??? Ok finally Summer and the City by Candace Bushnell. The sequel to The Carrie Diaries, it's gorgeous and pink and yummy looking but now it has actual dust on it, another one to add to the deck hair pile I think!

This list doesn't include any of the 'classics' I've picked up in charity shops, the ones I didn't read in school. Or the books I bought over east bank holiday weekend which I am actually beginning to make a dent in now. I would love to hear what other people have lurking on their shelves...

    1. Like I say, I think it's because it's a big hardback-I need a day in the sun to read it all!

  3. Great list! I'm glad to know someone else has sticky book fingers. I can't walk through a book shop without at least three novels attaching themselves to me. :)

  5. I loved seeing everyone's list for this one when we did it a few weeks ago. It made me feel so much better to know that I'm not the only one guilty of buying shiny new books and forgetting about them! I haven't read any of your picks either, but several are on my TBR list.

    Happy TTT!
