Bookshop Day!

Today is Bookshop Day, celebrating independent bookshops & real, lovely bookshops on the high street as part of the Books Are My Bag campaign.

Usually I would be visiting my friends at the fab Chorleywood Bookshop but unfortunately I am 5000 miles away from them! I managed to find myself a branch of Tattered Cover Bookshop at the airport. I'm glad to have found this Denver chain as they have a great selection of books and superb events as well as being really friendly people!

Books are my Bag have also launched their readers award. Created by bookshops, chosen by book-lovers, the Books Are My Bag Readers Awards are a unique new set of awards. They are the only Book Awards with shortlists curated by High Street booksellers. And the only awards voted for by their book-loving customers. Five shortlists have been chosen by booksellers; Fiction, Non-Fiction, Biography & Autobiography, Children’s and Breakthrough Author. The fact that these shortlists have been chosen exclusively by booksellers means that they occupy a unique place among awards

The relationship between books, booksellers and their book-loving customers is the heart of Books Are My Bag, and the Books Are My Bag Readers Awards capture that relationship of trust, recommendation and conversation, perfectly.

Sponsored by National Book Tokens, book lovers are encouraged to vote for their favourites on the shortlists in-store or online-so exciting!

And don't forget you can get your books are my bag bag, a fab limited edition version this year...

I hope you're having a fab bookshop day, make sure you support your local bookstores!

Happy reading!
